OUR BLOG: THE PEOPLE'S VOICE ... HEARD

Zombie Bills

Yes, APFO is back from the dead and being voted upon, most likely, Monday night, Feb. 5th. Will it eat us alive? It sure feels like it has for those of us who have been working so hard on this for literally years. What a long road it has been.

The People’s Voice Board’s unanimous position on CB1 and 2 was to have no substantive amendments because it was SUPPOSED to be just a technical fix. With 8 amendments filed, several that would water down the hard won strengthening of APFO that was “passed” last year, the public is watching closely.

I am recovering from pneumonia, so not sure if I will be there in person tomorrow, but I’ll be watching from home, and hoping for the best, after many meetings, analyses and talks with many stakeholders, Council Members and community leaders.

I hope we see as close to the original as possible. I also hope not to see a veto on this Bill. One can actually imagine a zombie apocalypse at that point. ;)

Stay tuned for the coming zombie 2 bill, mulching, another heated, contentious and serious situation. If the Council changes APFO, after the technical error, it will be harder to argue that the mulching Bill shouldn’t be changed.
