Remove Developer Money from Politics

Check out my latest column in the Business Monthly regarding how other counties in MD have laws regarding developers and builders contributing to the campaign accounts of officials who make land use decisions, affecting that industry's profits.

The reason these laws stand is due to the conflict of interest issue of making frequent decisions that financially affect one industry. It is time for Howard County to enact a protective law of this type. This year's MD General Assembly session has a Bill sponsored by Delegate Warren Miller 15-20, that deals with this issue. It was sponsored last year, and did not get much support. We need to push the Delegation to support this Bill this year, and amend it to just make the donations illegal, like in PG County, and not just require recusals from decisions.

Check out the details here.

Go to the online petition to sign and share regarding supporting this measure in the Bill.
